Pinterest Gift Globes

Heading into the holiday + gifting season, we partnered up with VIRTUE Worldwide and Pinterest to design a custom microsite with 3 co-branded Gift Globes (with Macy's, Kohl's, and Lowe's). Pinterest came to the table with the concept of creating 3 uniquely branded "snow globes" that users could interact with to shop for recommended gifts, and access via sponsored pins on Pinterest. As a result, we worked with the team at VIRTUE to design the UX for shoppers visiting the site, and lead the UI design of all aspects of the microsite. As a finishing touch, we created a series of company-specific and holiday-themed illustration for each branded snow globe scene within the site. Our main goal for the finished gift globes was to create the perfect interactive shopping and gifting experience leading up to the holidays.

Wireframes
The final wireframes for the microsite took users through 3 potential pathways (after entering the experience from a sponsored holiday Pin). Users were prompted to search for the person they wished to shop for, edit personalized categories pulled from that person's pin activity, and then shop a list of recommended products within 1 of 3 co-branded gift globes. If users wished to shop for someone without a Pinterest account, they could shop via a persona instead (ie: The Adventure Seeker). And once users landed on their recommended gift globe, simply shaking their device caused the globe to "snow" and the products within it to refresh.
Macy’s
For the UI design of the Macy's co-branded gift globe, we wanted to translate the mood of shopping at the perfume counter at Macy's during the holiday season. With a signature red base, the globe was set in front of a cool pink + neutral purple background with an illustrated perfume spritzer, makeup brush, lipstick, and wrapped gift. The full experience used Macy's red as an accent throughout (including the loading screen featuring a mini snow globe).
Kohl’s
For the UI design of the Kohl's co-branded gift globe, we wanted to play up their bright palette and create a design solution that felt family-friendly and fun. With a bright red base, the globe was set in front of a mint green + ice blue background with two illustrated snowmen (holding Kohl's cash). The full experience used classic holiday colors with unexpected accents to create a shopping experience that was welcoming for all ages.
Lowe’s
For the UI design of the Lowe's co-branded gift globe, we aimed to bring the nostalgia of holiday traditions (cutting down a tree, hanging lights, etc.) to life. With a navy base, the globe was set in front of a blue-gray + slate blue gradient with illustrated snow-covered pine trees, a small dog, ladder, and outdoor string lights. The full experience used a spectrum of blues to mimic the comforting feel of walking into a Lowe's to get ready for the holidays.
